RomanoвЂ™s second solo album, Sleep Beneath the Willow,В comes out in April, so look for his song вЂTime ForgotвЂ™В in a future post. The highlight of the show was the short set by opener Daniel Romano (of Attack in Black fame)В with guest Misha Bower (of Bruce Peninsula). I saw Jim Bryson and the Weakerthans play a few weeks ago. That said, you can at least rely on the fact that once a month IвЂ™m going to upload some great songs. Following that we have a classic by the Foo Fighters, and then what I think is the best song from Bon IverвЂs newВ self titled album. Their debut album, Homewrecker (2011) is a bit repetitive, and some of the songs seem like theyвЂ™d be way better live than done in the studio, but the band has a lot of potential. I heard/saw the song вЂSuperbluesвЂ™ by Little Hurricane on a webforum that I still frequent (because IвЂ™m old, and was around when forums were вЂњcoolвЂќ). (Romano also has fretboard inlays on his acoustic guitarВ that spell his name, again emulating the вЂњSinging RangerвЂќ.) This last time I was fortunate enough to get a decent shot of his Hank Snow-esque leather pickguard (made by MK Holloway). IвЂ™ve been lucky enough to see him play twice this year. I really hope he gets nominated for the Polaris music prize. His album Sleep Beneath the Willow (2011) is one of my favorites soВ far this year. It reminds me of вЂGimme ShelterвЂ™В mixed with вЂI Will Follow You Into the DarkвЂ™вЂ¦in a good way.ДЄfter that we have вЂThere are Lines inВ My FaceвЂ™ by Daniel Romano, which is AMAZING. The duetвЂ™s new album, Blood Pressures (2011),В doesnвЂ™t do it for me as much as Midnight Boom (2008), at least not yet, but this track in particular is really great. The first track on the list is another selection from Wye OakвЂs latest album, Civilian (2011).
